The Review of the Unmanned Robotic Platforms for Diagnostic of Power Lines and Transmission Towers Under Voltage

The reliability and continuity of power supply depends on the technical condition of power lines. Therefore, diagnostics and maintenance of power lines is one of the priority tasks of the energy sector. Today, more and more attention is being paid to the maintenance of power equipment according to its condition. The main trend in the inspection of power lines and transmission towers, which allows monitoring their serviceability in real time, is currently the research and development of unmanned robotic systems capable of monitoring the technical condition of power line nodes, identifying malfunctions at an early stage of their development. The article presents the requirements for robotic platforms for diagnosing power lines and transmission towers under the voltage, reviews existing solutions in this area, identifies the advantages and disadvantages of existing prototypes and identifies prospects for their development.
