Cover Feature: Structure‐Activity Relationship of Fluorinated Benzenesulfonamides as Inhibitors of Amyloid‐β Aggregation (Chem. Eur. J. 58/2024)
A new class of fluorinated benzenesulfonamide has been synthesized and characterized by their anti-amyloid potential. In their Research Article (DOI: 10.1002/chem.202402330), D. Matulis and co-workers investigate the compounds’ structure–activity relationship for inhibiting amyloid-beta (Aβ) aggregation, which is considered to be the onset of Alzheimer's disease. The synthesized molecules were effective at slowing down Aβ aggregation by extending its nucleation phase and reduced aggregate toxicity to SHSY-5Y cells.
