New Sky-Hook Control Algorithm for Secondary Lateral Suspension System of Railway Vehicle
Passive suspension controls, which are widely used in railway vehicles to isolate unwanted lateral vibrations for the car body, have low effectiveness in high vibration frequencies, while new approaches using mixed control algorithms could not reach the optimal performance of individual singular controls. To overcome this issue, this paper proposes a new skyhook control that can work effectively with varying damping coefficients in response to the vibration velocity of the car body to adapt to a wide range of vibration frequencies. The simulation results showed that, compared to the conventional skyhook control, the proposed control improved the vibration isolation for the car body by $60.32 \%$, $60.08 \%$, and $56.66 \%$ in relation to displacement, velocity, and acceleration, respectively. This proposed control method demonstrated its effectiveness while maintaining structural simplicity and operation convenience, suggesting high robustness, feasibility, and potential.
