Size Effect On Mechanical Response And Thermal Conductivity Of Monolayer Honeycomb Structures
This work uses molecular dynamics (MD) simulation via a tension test to explore the effect of the sample dimensions on the mechanical response and thermal conductivity (TC) of the mono-layer germanium. The results show that the stress increases while TC increases as the sample dimensions decrease in the zigzag and armchair directions. Besides, the forces focused on atoms occur at different positions and levels, depending on the dimension of the sample. Moreover, TC in the armchair axis is larger than that of the zigzag axis with all the dimensions.
