The Use of Mitochondrial Cytochrome C Oxidase Subunit I Gene in Identifying Pila Species in The Mekong Delta
This article analyzes the mitochondrial cytochrome C oxidase subunit I (COI) gene sequences and morphology of Pila to identify and understand genetic interactions. The morphology of apple snails is characterized by their large size and abundance, which allows them to adapt to different habitats. The total deoxyribonucleic acids of the apple snail samples were isolated, and COI gene was amplified by polymerase chain reaction. The obtained COI gene sequences (98.91 – 99.68%) in Genebank. The phylogenetic graphic was divided into three groups of apple samples similar to Pila polita BM250710 (EU528475.1). The results provide a database of the COI genes and phylogenies of P. polita in the Mekong Delta and can help suggest conservation strategies for different species.
