Study On Some Properties Of Pectin/Carboxymethyl Cellulose/Nanocurcumin Films

In this study, pectin/carboxymethyl cellulose (P/CMC) films were developed by adding different concentration of nanocurcumin of $0; 0.8; 1.6; 2.4$, and $3.2 \mathrm{~g} / 100 \mathrm{~g}$ of blended polymer. The addition of nanocurcumin in the P/CMC films from 0 to $3.2 \mathrm{~g} / 100 \mathrm{~g}$ of blended polymer reduced the tensile strength from 14.35 to 6.56 MPa, and the elongation decreased from 31.12 to $\mathbf{2 5 . 6 3 \%}$. Furthermore, the solubility decreased from $38.29 \%$ to $\mathbf{2 1 . 7 2 \%}$. Likewise, the water vapor permeability decreased from $1.234 \times 10^{-14}$ to $1.068 \times 10^{-14}$ $\mathrm{g} . \mathrm{mm} / \mathrm{m}^{2}$.day.kPa after adding nanocurcumin. The optimal effects on the properties of P/CMC films were observed when the concentration of nanocurcumin was $1.6 \mathrm{~g} / 100 \mathrm{~g}$ of blended polymer. The color of P/CMC/nanocurcumin films can be changed by pH. These results recommend that P/CMC/nanocurcumin films can be applied as indicator films for food preservation and biomedical.
