Improving Microgrid Operation Through Virtual Synchronous Machine Implementation
The inertia of the system has decreased due to the trend of renewable energy sources becoming more and more integrated into power grid systems. This raises the risk of significant frequency fluctuations even further, which could lead to power system instability, particularly for microgrids. The paper suggests using the virtual synchronous generator approach to increase inertia in order to address this issue. The power that must be distributed through the microgrid’s storage system in order to minimize variations and oscillations in the frequency quantity is determined using the frequency derivative in this method. A microgrid that incorporates renewable energy sources is the object that uses this control technique. Using MATLAB/SIMULINK software, the Microgrid model and its constituent parts will be examined on a small signal model. In terms of microgrid stability, the method’s outcomes will be contrasted with those of traditional controllers.
