Resistance Properties of Graphite Magnetorheological Elastomer for Sensor Application

The research used iron and graphite particles as fillers because of their ability to incorporate electrical and magnetic properties into magnetorheological elastomers (MREs). The resistance of the MREs was evaluated under varying applied forces and magnetic field strengths, revealing a field-dependent increase in modulus at different magnetic field levels. Both mechanical loads and external magnetic fields were found to be capable of adjusting the sample’s resistance. The electrical conductivity of MREs is attributed to the arrangement of iron particles. This study’s promising findings regarding the use of graphite fillers open up new possibilities for incorporating graphite fillers in the manufacturing of MREs for future sensor applications.
