Effect of Blockade of the 5-HT4 Receptors on the Calcium Activity of Neuron-Glial Networks in vitro
recent data suggests that the serotonergic system is an important regulator of neuroplasticity and is involved in the organization of functional neural networks. We have researched the effect of blockade of the serotonin receptor type 4 on the parameters of intercellular calcium signal transmission in neuron-glial networks in primary hippocampal cell cultures. Our results demonstrate that in vitro blockade of 5-HT4 receptors leads to disruption of intercellular calcium signaling and destruction of functional connections between cells in the network.
