Maximize Oil Production from Mature Wells by Using ESP & HJP Combined System

ESP – HJP combined technique is presented that utilizes ESP and HJP systems in series by dividing the total dynamic head (TDH) into two sections. The first section of TDH (well side section) is accomplished by installation a smaller fixed speed ESP whereas; the second section of TDH (wellhead side) is completed by incorporation HJP system. Results are compared to previously install conventional ESP system for the TDH. Typical ESP-HJP combined system is illustrated in Fig. 1 For mature wells, the reservoir pressure declines and so does the bottom hole flowing pressure. Therefore, the reservoir pressure cannot be able to lift the produced fluid to the surface at economical rates. Artificial lift system should be implemented as a primary recovery method to reduce the bottom hole flowing pressure. Consequently, oil production is increased to the desired limits. ESP-HJP combined system employs ESP system of a smaller electric motor integrated with a fewer stages centrifugal pump. The centrifugal pump is sufficient to lift the fluid to about two thirds of the total dynamic head. The artificial lift system is completed by incorporating HJP system as shown in Fig. 2

Abstract
