Performance Comparison of Pre-treatment of Woody Biomass by Measurement of Saccharification Rate and Fermentation Amount
In this study, a pretreatment process using only a microwave oven was presented in the process of making fallen leaves into bioethanol and its efficiency was compared with the existing method. The previously proposed autoclaving method or stirring immersion method has a disadvantage in that it takes a long time to process, so the microwave irradiation method was used. For acid and base solutions, the autoclaving method and microwave irradiation method were implemented, respectively, to measure and compare the lignin removal rate and sugar conversion degree. It was confirmed that the autoclaving method showed a higher degree of lignin removal, but the microwave irradiation method showed a higher degree of conversion per hour. As a result, it was found that the microwave irradiation method is a method to obtain higher sugar conversion efficiency while shortening the time compared to the autoclaving method.
