Character association and path analysis for yield and its attributing traits among urdbean landraces
In the present study, character association and path analysis were studied among 23 urdbean genotypes for 11 quantitative traits. Correlation analysis divulged that seed yield/plant proclaimed a significant positive relationship between branches/plant, biological yield/plant, pods/plant, and pod length at both genotypic and phenotypic levels and also showed a direct effect on yield. Biological yield/plant, branches/plant and pods/plant had the most beneficial direct and indirect influences on the overall relationship between yield and other component attributes, indicating the high inter-dependent interaction among these traits. Therefore, these characteristics could be considered as optimum selection indices on a priority basis, which would be remarkable for improving genotype efficiency during genetic improvement.
