An empirical study on the entropy reduction effect of intellectual property information innovation index on OECD digital economy development level from the perspective of population structure
Intellectual property is currently an important driving force for innovation activities, and also an important support for economic and social development. The intellectual property information innovation index, which is driven by the new wave of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation, has brought significant changes to the digital economy. Based on this, the article constructs the frameworks of intellectual property information innovation index and digital economy development level respectively, based on the scientific understanding of their connotations, and applies the entropy method to measure the intellectual property information innovation index and digital economy development level of OECD countries from 2015 to 2023, and explores the impact and internal mechanism of intellectual property information innovation index on digital economy development level. The research reveals that the intellectual property information innovation index has a notable "inverted U-shaped" effect on the digital economy development level, and this conclusion remains valid after a series of robustness and endogeneity tests. The article further analyzes the influencing mechanism and finds that the optimization of population structure can weaken the "inverted U-shaped" relationship between intellectual property information innovation index and digital economy development level. In addition, the impact of intellectual property information innovation index on digital economy development level is heterogeneous, the effect of intellectual property information innovation index on digital basic services is "U-shaped", and the effect on digital dualization coupling and digital talents is "inverted U-shaped".
