Construindo uma nova vida
This work intends to investigate the theme of Jewish festivals, especially the Jewish wedding ritual present in the narrative Filipson: Memory of a girl in the first Jewish colony in Rio Grande do Sul (1904-1920), by Frida Alexandr. This is because in the work under study, there are two chapters that portray this theme, that is, “Zelde’s wedding” and “Adélia’s wedding”. Zelde and Adélia are characters whose stories are narrated by Frida's memories during her sixteen-year stay in the Filipson Jewish colony. In this sense, the aim is to analyze the tradition of Jewish marriage and, above all, regarding the rituals, meanings, beliefs and the implications of this tradition present in the context of modern society. To do this, it is based on the theoretical-critical postulations of Michael Asheri (1995), Carmine Di Santi (2004), Arnold Van Gennep (2011), Regina Zilberman (2023).
