Novel large cinching device for the resection of a large pedunculated gastric polyp
The endoscopic management of giant (>5-cm) pedunculated gastric polyps can be challenging, in part, due to the risk of hemorrhage from a retracted feeding vessel after snare polypectomy. Furthermore, retrieval of giant gastric polyps that are resected in its entirety can prove difficult due to the limited diameter of the upper and lower esophageal sphincters, as well as the inability to debulk a large polyp with “hot snare” once it has been separated from the mucosa. A detachable snare (“endoloop”) can be used to cinch pedunculated polyps and reduce the risk of postpolypectomy bleeding.
