Tokenisme Daud dan Mefiboset terhadap Teman Tuli di Komunitas Pantomim Kota Magelang

Abstract The story of Mephibosheth and David in 2 Samuel 9 tells of King David providing the best facilities for Mephibosheth, a descendant of Saul and Jonathan, as a way to honor his friendship with Jonathan. David gave Mephibosheth land and ordered the servant Ziba to work it, ensuring Mephibosheth had a source of income. However, through narrative and ideological critique, questions arise about David’s true motives. Was this purely a kind act from King David, or was it tokenism to enhance the grandeur of David’s kingdom? This study also references the book “Disability Studies and the hebrew bible: Figuring Mephibosheth in the David Story” to examine societal realities regarding the rights of people with disabilities to decent work. a special focus is given to deaf individuals working in the pantomime performing arts in Magelang. Using interview data from a deaf disability activist and the founder of a pantomime community in the city, this study aims to reveal whether the right to decent work for people with disabilities is fulfilled or still entangled in tokenism.
