Performance Comparison of Correlation Coefficient Based Trackers for Characteristic Mode Analysis

Mode tracking is a challenging task when using characteristic mode analysis in a frequency range. In this paper, two mode tracking algorithms based on the correlation coefficient of eigenvectors of adjacent frequencies are presented. Based on them, a MATLAB code is developed to analyze the dipole structure in the frequency range of 0.1–1 GHz. The results obtained with these algorithms are verified by comparison with those obtained in previous publications. By comparing the considered algorithms with each other, no significant difference in the accuracy of mode tracking is found. The performance of each algorithm is reported.

Abstract

Mode tracking is a challenging task when using characteristic mode analysis in a frequency range. In this paper, two mode tracking algorithms based on the correlation coefficient of eigenvectors of adjacent frequencies are presented. Based on them, a MATLAB code is developed to analyze the dipole structure in the frequency range of 0.1–1 GHz. The results obtained with these algorithms are verified by comparison with those obtained in previous publications. By comparing the considered algorithms with each other, no significant difference in the accuracy of mode tracking is found. The performance of each algorithm is reported.
