Creating with more-than-humans

In the face of an escalating biodiversity crisis, it is imperative to transcend human-centric paradigms and embrace a multi-speciesist, eco-centric worldview. This paper explores the concept of co-creation with more-than-human entities, investigating the potential for interspecies co-creation to reshape our understanding of agency, intelligence, and creativity. By engaging with non-human species—ranging from mice and bats to squids and elephants—these works demonstrate how artistic practices can foster empathetic engagement and ecological awareness. Through a series of projects, we examine the ethical considerations and practical methodologies of co-creating with and for non-human beings, challenging anthropocentric hierarchies and advocating for a deeper, more inclusive approach to collaboration across species.
