True Sight: How Transgender Perspectives Can Shape Values for Designing Embodied Interactions
From a transgender positionality, the present research highlights the potentials for gender euphoria and identity exploration in design – opportunities and values that are missed without a transgender perspective. We present a design fiction of a near-future social embodied augmented reality that grants users control over their presentation to others. Through this, we see how various identities can be formed and communicated to others. While such technologies could be used for ill purposes, we argue for their value in affirming identity.
