A Case of Open Zone Ⅰ Extensor Tendon Rupture Reconstructed by External Oblique Muscle Aponeurosis with Perifascial Areolar Tissue
However, it is difficult to achieve sufficient strength at the suture site because of the short gliding distance and thinness of the extensor tendon, which results in easy re-rupture.If there is a defect between the tendon ends, for example, due to re-rupture after the primary suture, tendon grafting or tendon transfer is required.Although the palmaris longus tendon is frequently used as a material in tendon transfer procedures, it is thicker than the extensor tendon, with a marked difference from the terminal extensor tendon. The external oblique muscle aponeurosis is sheet-like in structure and similar in morphology to extensor tendons. It is abundant and can be designed freely.
