The population’s need for the creation of a nursing care and rehabilitation department was identified, the necessary resources for the department’s activities and possible undesirable risks of the depar tment were determined. Conclusion. The creation of nursing care and rehabilitation departments for elderly and senile patients is necessary in order to improve the quality of life of patients, reduce treatment costs, introduce paid ser vices, and increase the prestige of the nursing profession.
