On the issue of morbidity among children in the Nizhny Novgorod region caused by nutritional factors
Diseases of children and adolescents, potentially caused by nutrition, are an urgent medical problem. The aim of the study is to assess the prevalence and primary incidence of nutrition–related diseases in the children's population of the Nizhny Novgorod region. The data of the official statistics of the Nizhny Novgorod region and the Russian Federation for 2012-2022 are analyzed. An increase in the prevalence of obesity and diabetes mellitus among children and adolescents was revealed, characteristic both for the studied region and for the country as a whole, which indicates the possibility of the influence of general facts, including those related to nutrition. The increase in the prevalence (by 6.7%) and primary incidence of anemia among adolescents (by 3.6%) of the Nizhny Novgorod region revealed in 2012-2022 may be a consequence of negative changes in nutrition and socio-hygienic well-being of the region's population. In order to establish the connection of the identified trends with the nutritional factor, in-depth cahoric studies are necessary.
