MANDIBULECTOMIA PARCIAL EM CÃO COM MELANOMA ORAL: RELATO DE CASO
Malignant melanoma is a neoplasm of unknown etiology, with a poor prognosis and a high metastatic rate, which can reach 80% in affected dogs. This condition generally develops rapidly, commonly in areas such as the gums, palate, tongue, and labial mucosa. The main clinical signs include halitosis, bleeding, and dysphagia. Diagnosis is confirmed by histopathological examination. The ideal treatment involves surgical excision with a safety margin, associated with chemotherapy and/or immunotherapy. This work presents the case of a 12-year-old mixed-breed female dog diagnosed with oral melanoma, who underwent partial mandibulectomy and treatment with Carboplatin. The patient had a good prognosis, with no pain or feeding difficulties, and showed no recurrences or signs of metastasis.
