Celebrating our 2024 Biennial International LRRK2 Meeting winners
2024 marks the 20th anniversary of the cloning of the Leucine-Rich Repeat Kinase 2 (LRRK2) gene, and the field is witnessing major advances in our understanding of its function, its role in human disease and therapeutic intervention. The latest edition of the Biennial International LRRK2 Meeting was held from 18 to 21 June 2024 at the Aquila Atlantis Hotel in Crete, Greece, and showcased cutting-edge research of this key protein, the most common genetic cause of Parkinson’s disease. Kindly sponsored by the Biochemical Journal, Nevia Dule and Georgios Tsafaras were both presented with prizes for their outstanding poster presentations. Lucy Ollett, Grants and Awards Manager at the Biochemical Society, caught up with them to discover more about their work.
