CHANGES IN SOIL PROPERTIES DURING LONG-TERM NON-USE OF ARABLE LAND
The article is devoted to the study of changes in soil properties and land condition as a result of long-term non-use of arable land. The studies were carried out on chernozem soils in the southeastern part of the Novosibirsk region in the forest-steppe zone. The arable land was unused for more than 15 years. A comparative analysis of the properties of chernozem soils based on materials from soil surveys in 1969, 1990 and 2022 showed that over a half-century period, the humus content decreased by 15-25%, exchangeable bases - by 43.6-56.6%. The conclusion is made about the need to return land to agricultural use on the basis of adaptive landscape soil-saving farming systems.
