DEVELOPMENT OF VIRGIN AND FALLOW LANDS IN THE KRASNOYARSK TERRITORY
In the history of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the 1950s and 1960s were marked by the development of virgin and fallow lands. In 1954-1955, 5 new virgin grain farms were created, in which 147 million rubles were invested. By 1959, these state farms additionally transferred agricultural products totaling 258.0 million rubles to the state. In 1956, 972.0 thousand hectares of new lands had already been developed in the region, most of them were in Khakassia, and lands in the Uzhursky, Krasnoturansky, Kansk, Irbeysky and Balakhtinsky districts were also involved. For major successes in the development of virgin and fallow lands, the Krasnoyarsk Territory was awarded the Order of Lenin. The Krasnoyarsk Research Institute of Agricultural Sciences, founded in 1956 on the basis of the Kamalinsky Experimental Station, played an important role in the study of virgin and fallow lands. The scientific research carried out by the scientists of the Institute made it possible to preserve the fertility of arable lands, to develop virgin and fallow lands in various soil and climatic conditions of the Krasnoyarsk Territory
