Diagnostics of the mineral-asphalt mixture at the stage of laboratory tests using a material tomograph
The article presents the results of structural research on the analysis of pore density in a asphalt mixture using X-ray CT. The impact of the amount of bitumen on the compactness of total voids and the water resistance of the asphalt mixture was assessed using traditional standard methods. Then, its external structure was examined, which allowed to explain the mechanism of changes occurring in the structure as a result of the impact of water on it. The information obtained during the test regarding the distribution of pores, their size and number allows for the correct selection of the amount of binder in the asphalt mixture and its diagnostics in terms of durability in the structural layer of the road pavement in terms of water resistance
