Software System for Supporting Art Therapy Processes using Augmented Reality Technologies

The article discusses the architecture and main functions of the software system supporting the processes of conducting art therapy using augmented reality tools and methods. Art therapy is an important component of physical rehabilitation, particularly as a means of training fine motor skills of the hands and wrist functions. The proposed system architecture with its main modules, which implement possibilities for the patient to create drawings in various dimensions. In the process of creating drawings by the patient, the measurement of the bending angles of the upper limb joints and the real-time communication between the therapist and the patient using a photorealistic three-dimensional hologram are carried out. Another set of system functions is the intelligent analysis of physical rehabilitation progress based on the data obtained regarding the bending angles of the joints for the purpose of adjusting the patient’s rehabilitation process.
