Analyzing HRRP Characteristics of a Uniformly Moving Plasma Sheath With LFM Plane Waves Illumination Using the LT–SO–FDTD Method

Scattering and transmission of EM waves when propagated in a moving dispersive medium are numerically investigated based on the Lorentz finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) approach. This scheme employs a modified physics model of a moving plasma medium via Lorentz transformation (LT), integrated with the constitutive relations of the electric field. Then, Maxwell’s equations are solved in a moving frame with the classical FDTD technique. The numerically simulated reflection and transmission coefficients, as well as the Doppler frequency shift, agree well with the exact solution found in the literature. Finally, the numerical results of the high-resolution range profile (HRRP) indicate that the velocity not only induces the range migration but also leads to the defocusing and attenuation of the HRRP.
