Ethical Use of Geolocation Data: Privacy Concerns in Food Delivery Applications in the Philippines
This study explores how ethics plays a role in geolocation data sharing of food delivery applications in the Philippines where policies such as the Data Privacy act of 2012 are reviewed. Additionally, the study aims to identify the perception of users on how their data is being used and shared when using Food delivery applications. The study made use of a survey questionnaire that contained questions designed to extract information regarding the opinions of the respondents with regards to data privacy, use of food delivery applications, and how to improve these in the future. The study finds that 56.7% of the respondents feel secure sharing their personal information with food delivery applications in the Philippines (GrabFood and FoodPanda). Additionally, the study finds that data privacy concerns should be given attention when using applications that share data with different parties.
