Development of an all-in-one pan-sarbecovirus ferritin nanoparticle vaccine in humans
A recent human clinical trial published in The Lancet Microbe by Brittany L Ober Shepher and colleagues1 showed that a spike ferritin nanoparticle (SpFN) vaccine adjuvanted with Army Liposome Formulation containing monophosphoryl lipid A and QS-21 (SpFN-ALFQ) was well tolerated and safe. The vaccine elicited broadly protective immunity against several evolving SARS-CoV-2 variants and subvariants and even a panel of sarbecoviruses.1 The study findings further advance the development of next-generation pan-sarbecovirus vaccines.
