Categorising head and neck impacts in cricket from video
Introduction: Impacts to the head and neck may be categorised according to their risk of causing a concussion. The category of impact may be used to guide which assessments and monitoring are most appropriate for the welfare of athletes, without unnecessary burden. In cricket, video of impacts allows practitioners to see the player and their response more clearly. The purpose of this study is to: i) describe the distribution of impact categories seen in elite cricket, and; ii) explore the clinical utility of novel cricket-specific signs to assist the categorisation of head impacts.
