A ATUAÇÃO DO FARMACÊUTICO NO GERENCIAMENTO DE RESÍDUOS SÓLIDOS EM LABORATÓRIO DE ANÁLISES CLÍNICAS
Abstract: The management of solid waste in clinical laboratories is essential to ensure the safety of workers, public health, and environmental preservation. Pharmacists play a key role in this process, being responsible for overseeing the segregation, storage, and proper disposal of biological, chemical, and sharps waste. In addition, they must implement biosafety protocols, train the team, and monitor performance indicators related to waste management. Among the main challenges faced are the lack of infrastructure for hazardous waste disposal and the need for greater awareness among professionals. The pharmacist’s role in waste management contributes to compliance with current regulations and the sustainability of healthcare services.
