PROSPECT OF BIO-LUBRICANTS IN AUTOMOTIVE ENGINES: REVIEW
Lubricants are an anti-friction medium that makes operations easier for relative motions, keeps machines operating reliably, and lowers the chances of frequent breakdowns. Currently, there is revived interest in the development and use of environmentally friendly lubricants generated from other resources due to the rising cost of crude oil and the depleted reserves of crude oil worldwide. The term Bio-lubricants refers to renewable lubricants that are nontoxic, biodegradable, and diminish greenhouse emissions. This article discusses the possibility of using a bio-lubricant made of vegetable oil as a substitute for conventional lubricants. Bio-lubricants are potential alternatives to traditional lubricants due to their good lubrication properties, less toxicity, high ignition temperature and viscosity, improve load-carrying capacity and equipment life, excellent friction coefficient and anti-wear character, low evaporation, and emissions rates, into the environment.
