Horizontally Polarized Omnidirectional Antenna with Tilted Pattern Based on Long Slot Radiator

This letter introduces a novel horizontally polarized, traveling-wave omnidirectional antenna, characterized by a tilted radiation pattern. The achievement of an omnidirectional radiation pattern is realized through the integration of two elongated slots strategically positioned on opposite sides of a rectangular waveguide. This antenna is meticulously designed for operation within the frequency range of 23.5 GHz to 24.5 GHz. Within this specified bandwidth, the antenna demonstrates excellent impedance matching, evidenced by an S</i>11 parameter lower than −15 dB (S</i>11<−15 dB), and maintains a stable omnidirectional radiation pattern with a notably low sidelobe level. Furthermore, the antenna has undergone meticulous fabrication followed by extensive testing in a far-field scenario. The empirical results obtained from these tests have shown a high degree of correlation with the results predicted by simulations, thereby validating the effectiveness of the design.
