Palimpsest: a spatial user interface toolkit for cohering tracked physical entities and interactive 3D content
Designing effective 3D user interfaces for immersive technologies remains tedious and manual, particularly for the successful integration of complex interactive 3D content. Palimpsest automates parts of this workflow by associating 3D user interface elements with interactive 3D content, laid out without code by the designer. We demonstrate a custom-developed UI framework, built on top of recently introduced workflows for Apple Vision Pro, streamlining the coherent spatial arrangement of 3D model libraries, animations, and textures in relation to tracked 3D objects or 2D images in the user’s environment. In this demonstration, we showcase several sample applications built with Palimpsest in architectural visualization, hybrid puzzle games, and spatial reading.
