Demonstrating FIRE: Mid-Air Thermo-Tactile Display
We present an innovative mid-air thermo-tactile display system based on ultrasound haptics. The system features an open-top chamber, heat modules, and an ultrasound haptic display. Our approach directs heated airflow toward the pressure point created by the ultrasound display, delivering thermal and tactile sensations simultaneously in mid-air. We demonstrate our system in four distinct VR environments—campfire, water fountain, kitchen, and candle—highlighting the enhanced user experiences made possible by the integration of thermal and tactile feedback.
