MORTALIDADE ANESTÉSICA DE CÃES NO PERÍODO TRANS-OPERATÓRIO E PÓS-OPERATÓRIO
Veterinary anesthesia plays a crucial role in the safety of surgical procedures in dogs, although mortality associated with these procedures remains a significant concern. This article reviews the literature on factors affecting mortality during the transoperative and postoperative periods, highlighting the importance of pre- anesthetic evaluation, appropriate drug selection, and rigorous monitoring. Studies indicate that mortality rates are most prevalent in the days following surgery, making vigilance essential for the animals’ survival. The data suggest that advancements in anesthetic practices and postoperative management have contributed to reducing these rates, despite ongoing challenges. The study emphasizes the need for effective monitoring protocols and continuous training for professionals to ensure safety during anesthesia in dogs.
