Design and Analysis of Predictive Inductor Current Control for PMSM Drives With <i>LC</i> Filter

Permanent-magnet synchronous motor drives equipped with an LC</i> filter offer an effective solution to motor-side overvoltage issues in long cable applications, but undesired resonances are also induced. This paper presents a predictive inductor current controller (PICC) to stabilize PMSM drives with an LC</i> filter. A baseline PICC is first designed based on a continuous control set, which achieves excellent steady-state performance and strong immunity to motor parameter mismatches. Then, to mitigate the resonances, capacitor-voltage-feedback active damping is integrated into the PICC, introducing only one design parameter. Furthermore, the parameter design and stability analysis of the overall system are theoretically given. The proposed PICC features simple implementation, satisfactory static and dynamic performance, and sufficient resonance-suppression capability. Experimental results validate the viability of the proposed approach.
