Effect of hydraulic oil temperature on the flow output quality of external gear pump
Abstract To investigate the impact of hydraulic oil temperature on the performance of an external gear pump, we developed a numerical model to simulate the internal flow field of the pump. Utilizing Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) techniques and the full cavitation model, we conducted an analysis on how varying hydraulic oil temperatures affect the pump’s flow quality. Through dynamic numerical simulations, we examined the relationship between hydraulic oil temperature and the flow quality of the gear pump. The findings indicated that the gear pump exhibits optimal flow performance when the hydraulic oil temperature is maintained within a suitable range. Should the temperature deviate from this optimal range, the cavitation within the pump’s flow field intensifies, leading to a decline in the overall flow quality of the gear pump, which worsens with the extent of the temperature deviation.
