Research and verification of in-orbit induction-assisted welding process for thermoplastic-composite materials
Abstract High-performance thermoplastic composite materials are commonly used as structural materials in aerospace. This article proposes an electromagnetic induction welding method suitable for the quick connection of thermoplastic composite structures between longitudinal beams and web members of truss structures. Research on electromagnetic induction welding methods and a small welding tool was developed. The electromagnetic induction welding verification test for carbon fiber-reinforced thermoplastic composite materials was completed. The quick welding of the truss longitudinal beam and the web member has been achieved, and the results show that this method has high welding efficiency, the equipment easily achieves miniaturization, and is suitable for the welding of thermoplastic composite materials. The application of this method can lay the foundation for the quick welding of thermoplastic composite material structures.
