Effect of blade parameters on lift performance of drum-type vertical cross-flow fan
Abstract The drum-type vertical cross-flow fan represents a novel approach to fan-wing technology. By re-configuring the traditional cross-flow fan in a vertical orientation, the symmetrical end plate design on both sides is transformed into an asymmetric structure. This modification aims to harness and optimize the axial force generated. Accordingly, this study delves into the development of a drum-type vertical cross-flow fan model. Through numerical simulation, we assess the impact of blade parameters on lift performance. The findings highlight that factors such as blade inclination angle, blade shape, blade diameter, and blade quantity all exert influence on lift force. A blade tilt of 15° around the impeller’s rotation direction along the lower edge, for instance, amplifies lift force by 26.73%. Arc-shaped blades along the wall contribute to heightened lift, while an increase in impeller diameter leads to a significant lift augmentation. Moreover, the presence of additional blades induces peak lift values, elevating lift from 43.31 N to 58.37 N.
