Research on multi-parameter optimization technology of spiral bevel gear blank
Abstract Aiming at the harsh working conditions of aviation bevel gears and the cumbersome design process of traditional tooth blank parameters and other issues, this paper firstly compared the differences between the standards results of the International Organization Standard (ISO) and American Gear Manufacture Association (AGMA) and finds that the calculation of the ISO standard was more instructive. The calculation resulted in the larger module, and the more teeth had a higher load-carrying capacity, which was more suitable for the design of bevel gears for aviation. Then, the ISO standard was used as the strength constraint to propose a multi-parameter optimization technique for bevel gear blanks. Based on the genetic algorithm, with fatigue strength and working condition requirements as double constraints, the design parameters of gear blanks, such as the number of teeth, module, and tooth width, were quickly screened out, which simplified the traditional design process of tooth blank parameters. The final optimization results effectively improved the designed gear’s strength and reduced the gear pair’s volume.
