Wear simulation of pin-on-disc sliding wear test

Abstract In this paper, the wear simulation of the pin-on-disc sliding wear test was performed by using the FEA software Abaqus. The wear depth of the pin sample was obtained by using Abaqus/Python secondary development technology based on Archard wear theory to calculate the surface node wear depth and control the wear simulation process, and by using Abaqus/ALE adaptive meshing technology to update the surface contour and the mesh information. To obtain the wear rate coefficient and verify the validity of the present method, the pin-on-disc sliding wear test and simulation were carried out, and the wear depth of the pin sample was compared. Based on this method, the influence of different loads on the wear of the pin sample is studied. The results show that the wear depth of the pin sample at each load is not the same, and the wear depth increases with increasing load at an increasing rate.
