Benchmarking Aircraft Material/Spare Parts Suppliers’ Standards and Proposal a Model

Objective: The objective of this study is to compare the standards developed for aviation suppliers, each with its unique aspects, and propose a model that combines their strengths and opportunities, to benchmark aircraft material, and parts supplier standards and propose a model. Theoretical Framework: Standards for aviation suppliers are essential for ensuring aircraft operations' effectiveness, safety, and high caliber. A combined aviation suppliers standard that would authorize providers of aircraft materials and parts worldwide under the one framework of this standard must be adopted to achieve this goal. The aviation industry has been using it since it is already at least recognized for so many different aircraft supplier standards. Method: The methodology adopted for this research comprises a document content analysis method for the coding and comparison of the main supplier’s standards and non-hierarchical clustering analysis for the classification of standardization criteria used in the study. Results and Discussion: According to coding analysis, thirty-two criteria were determined as the main representative of the standards and then they clustered into four categories. It is foresight that a model which contains FAA AC-0056B, asset management, risk management, and customer resource management criteria would cover these categories and a better representation of the holistic model. However, associations and local and regional civil aviation authorities, as well as aviation supplier firms in the industry need to convene, come to a consensus, and establish a common standard framework. Research Implications: Aviation suppliers, aircraft parts supply and chain management, airline technical supply management, maintenance repair stations, and manufacturers of aircraft materials and parts are all potentially affected. Originality/Value: This study contributes to the literature by proposing a common aviation supplier standardization model for all interested parties. By doing so, airworthiness parts, materials, and aircraft also efficiency of supply and change management process can facilitate and improve.
