OS DESAFIOS E ABORDAGENS PARA O ATENDIMENTO ODONTOLÓGICO DE PACIENTES COM SÍNDROME USP9X: RELATO DE CASO
Dental care for patients with special needs requires a careful and personalized approach that takes into account the physical, cognitive or emotional limitations of each person through understanding individual needs, an adapted environment, adequate communication, an efficient approach, and the inclusion of family members to achieve positive and trauma-free health for the patient. This report presents alternatives that help health professionals to solve and find ways to understand the challenges faced in caring for patients with USP9X syndrome in relation to the context of not finding a direct correlation between the syndromic characteristic and its complexity and ramifications with routine dental procedures, such as extractions or restorative treatments. However, understanding regulatory proteins such as usp9x may be relevant in some areas of medical and dental research, enabling an adapted approach such as a complete assessment by physicians, psychologists, speech therapists, dentists, educators and physiotherapists, preventive care and minimally invasive treatments that can be implemented to overcome some difficulties encountered and enabling a better comprehensive understanding by professionals in the area. This study aims to describe a case report of the care of a 12-year-old female PNE patient diagnosed with an alteration in the usp9x gene characterized by intellectual deficit, behavioral changes, short stature, dental and cardiac alterations and variable phenotype who attended the clinic of the Amazonas Faculty of the Specialization Course in Pediatric Dentistry with emphasis on Patients with Special Needs, complaining of “discomfort from a sharp tooth that was hurting her gums”, a report formed by her legal guardian who attended the consultation.
