Closed Incision Negative Pressure Therapy for Primary Wound Closure After the Simple Resection of A Pilonidal Sinus
Case 1A 16-year-old boy was referred to our hospital with a 6-month history of swelling of the buttocks and 4-month history of signs of infection.Despite receiving oral antibiotics from a general practitioner, the patient experienced remission and relapse repeatedly.Upon referral to our hospital, a physical examination revealed a fistula with surrounding granulation 1.5 cm to the right of the midline, above the intergluteal cleft (Fig. 1A).A small fistula was also found at the midline of the caudal side.Surgery was performed under general anesthesia in the prone position.Staining revealed that the right and midline caudal fistulas were communicating. An S-shaped incision was made between the fistulas and the sinus was removed in one block (Fig. 1B).Removal of the sinus left a subcutaneous tissue defect measuring 4.5 7.5 cm (Fig. 1C).After sinus
