Colorectal enhanced recovery after surgery: an audit at the Royal Oldham Hospital
Introduction: Enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) guidelines for colorectal surgery provide an evidence-based protocol for the delivery of consistent quality of care to all patients undergoing colorectal surgery, by minimising hospital stay duration and improving recovery after surgery.1 The objective of this project was to evaluate the colorectal ERAS service at the Royal Oldham Hospital (ROH) through an audit, and to then identify any areas for improvement, primarily within the anaesthetist’s scope of practice.
