ABORDAGENS CLÍNICAS PARA O FECHAMENTO DE DIASTEMA

Diastema is characterized by the absence of contact between two or more adjacent teeth. It is a condition that can be seen in any region of the oral cavity, the presence of diastemas is more related to the antero-superior region of the maxilla, due to the discrepancy between the size of the teeth and the maxillary bones. The clinical evaluation of the patient who requires treatment to close diastemas should involve inspection of the teeth, occlusion, insertion of the labial frenulum and positioning of the lips, in addition to a careful analysis of periodontal health. The etiology of diastema is multifactorial, involving genetic aspects, oral habits, size and position of teeth, as well as factors related to the growth and development of the mouth. Understanding these causes is essential for planning appropriate treatment. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to conduct a literature review on the different treatment options for diastema closure.
