Thermal AnalysisofFinned Tube Heat ExchangerUsing Computational Fluid Dynamics

This research provides a CFD analysis of a finned tube heat exchanger to evaluate its thermal performance and fluid flow characteristics. Using ANSYS software, a 3D CAD model of the heat exchanger was developed and discretized with fine mesh settings. The analysis applied appropriate boundary conditions, including fluid inlet velocity, turbulence intensity, and temperature constraints. Key results include temperature distribution, pressure distribution, turbulence eddy dissipation, and turbulence kinetic energy plots. The findings reveal high temperature and significant turbulent mixing near the fins, leading to enhanced convective heat transfer rates. The pressure distribution indicates substantial pressure drop from inlet to outlet, while the turbulence analysis shows effective dissipation and energy distribution. These insights provide a detailed understanding of the heat exchanger's performance, guiding potential design optimizations to improve efficiency and operational reliability.
